Snow day!

I welcomed the wind and snow this morning-- as I "slept in", patiently waiting for the phone call saying school was canceled. 

Just as I was thinking that the call wouldn't come-- my phone started ringing. It didn't matter that I didn't go back to sleep-- all that mattered was that I didn't have to get out of my PJ's today!

Love snow days-- because if Baku is going to be cold -- then there better be snow on the ground.  AND.. snow makes having to wear my hat, scarf, turtleneck, and fuzzy pink robe in the house seem okay.

Middle Eastern Vegas

The trip to Dubai was fantastic! The weather was perfect, we didn't have to fight to many crowds, and the sights were definitely superlative... :) The tallest building, the most expensive alcohol, the biggest mall.....

Things to check off the list:

- Eating at Burj Al Arab
- Snowboarding inside (at Ski Dubai)
- Visiting the biggest mall in the world- 1200 stores
- Dune Bashing
- Camel riding (in the desert) -- well maybe not riding
- Sand surfing--- even though it wasn't quite what was expected
- Boating on the Dubai Creek
- Riding the new metro -- very nice by the way
- Seeing the world's tallest building-- Burj Dubai

It is amazing how similar Dubai is to Vegas-- fountains like the Belagio, a mall shaped like a pyramid, tourist traps, and hotels that razzle dazzle. I got a bit nostalgic while I was there. A return trip is definitely on the agenda!
